I'm still here as well! But I have to say alot of my friends DID go back (hui liu?)

Those who go back generally have a harder time... but at the same time its a trade off of lifestyles. Crowded cities, bad pollution, lower living standards, less government supported amenities... same as those who head back to HK.

Making $40k-50k CDN here is a relative modest income, while the equivalent in TWN would be quite well off.

I'm considering the same myself... but I did come here pretty early so I'm used to the overseas lifestyles : )

The 15% standard income tax is pretty attractive though... versus CRA's 40%+ once you cross $48k... aii... no easy decision!
