hey, I second what you are saying and just wanna give you a warm pat on the shoulder.
I have been through what you are going through.....
I used to have a two door Neon w/ 3-speed auto tranny. Yeah, 3-speed, it's probably something rarer than dinasour. Anyway, it was a fun and lovely car, the first car I have ever had. I love the car so much and I just wanna make it different. So I got some Japanese 16 inch rims with low profile summer tire first, then exhaust, springs (no money for shocks and I didn't think i would use optimize their use anyway), power flow, ICEs, etc.
At some point of time, I had some people coming up to me and suggested that i save all the $$ and get a better car. But to me, there was no better car than "my car". so why change? I didn't like Integras and those Civics coz they were everywhere. And nobody fxxx up with their Neons, so why not?
I thought my Neon was quite unique in Vancouver coz I was the only running HKS power flow on a Neon. It was fun and fun.
Hopefully you can continue to enjoy your "ride transformation" since I think every driving enthusiastic should at least kinda go through that anyway. To me, go for something nice out of box should come after you experience all the hassles attributed to modifying.
Just keep your head up with respect for other drivers and I will give you a thumb up when I see you.
