I don't want to start any flame, but I don't like Honda's at all. I did drove a few Honda's in the past and I think they are all overrated cars.
Honda and Acura enthusiasts are always boasting about how "VTEC" makes Honda engines the greatest thing since the wheel was invented. VTEC is just variable valve timing, a feature that Nissan, Ford, and BMW all have in some of their engines. VTEC is just a crutch that Honda uses to make their tiny engines more drivable.
Honda cars have got to be the most overrated cars ever built. It seems that anyone who owns a Honda becomes a brainwashed Lemming, buying into the delusion that Hondas are defect free, never break down, and have better performance than any other make of car, especially those "unreliable American gas guzzlers". The automotive press consistently praise Honda products while overlooking their flaws, and do exactly the opposite to any domestic vehicles.

eason Honda was the first car company to mass produce variable valve timing engines. It is without doubt one of the better technology that make engine more driveable and efficient.
There will always be lemon car from every car manufacture. To do a search on google and said there is this much honda problem is not very convincing. In fact you can see on the list Honda nameplate has less problem per 100 vehicle than your MB or Volvo.
This is my experience with our family cars.
2003 C230 kompressor sport sedan auto.
A. Bi-xenon malfunction periodically on passenger side.
1st fix they change connector.
2nd fix they change bulb.
3rd fix they change the whole headlight assembly.
B. Rough shifting point
1st fix they raise the idle and adjust the adaptive transmission.
2nd fix they change the transmission module
3rd fix CEL came on and dealer replaced defective transmission module.
C. Memory package would at times erased all setting including seat and side mirror.
In all the probelms I experience with Benz have been annoying. Electronic glitch are hard to reproduce again at the dealership. This also make dealership job harder to detect since it's on and off probelm.
2001 Honda s2000 man
A. Passenger side HID ballast malfunction due to weather seal wasn't correctly installed.
1. Dealer had place order from Honda Japan and took 3 weeks to arrive.
B. Driver side roof latch broke off.
1. Replace the same day after dropping the car off at dealer.
2003 BMW 325 convertible auto
No major issues
2004 Lexus RX330 auto
No major issues
Honda quality has gone a bit downhill compare to previously due to increasing reliance on US source and US built vehicles. The Japanese manufacturing plant simply have better quality control it's the same way as Toyota/Lexus. Honda cars are built to be good all round performer. It might not win one category but it will be runner up in all the categories. Your hatred for Honda has gone way overboard. The only thing that prevent me from liking Honda anymore is the awful dealership service around vancouver. I don't mind Benz charging extra for technology things such as bi-xenon etc but $500 bucks for folding rear seats? :shrug: :shrug:
