i actually heard from many people that china will be equal to the US "very" soon. these newspapers are only giving us the most conservative estimate.
like you said, china needs to have a stable political system and financial market. in addition, US and the world economy need to fall.
hence, china's economy will be booming while the rest of the world is falling, so the day when china gained economic superpower won't be long.
so........
to people who support taiwanese independence....
i think you guys should start to accept the fact that china will be the most powerful country in the world. we might have to work with them somehow or another. just like today's US, many people hate the country, but we can't say "because you are an american, i will not do XXXXX with you," right? you guys can support independence, but don't be extreme and hate everything about china.
anyways, that's my opinion.
