I am not a computer expert, but I think I know a method that gets rid of the virus without re-installing windows.

Reboot ur compupter, and press F8 before it enters windows.
Then there will be a list of options. Choose "目錄服務還原模式" (I am using Chinese xp, so I am not sure wut that option is called in English xp.)
And then go with the instruction...choose a date u want ur computer to return to.

ex:
如果你的電腦是4月10號中毒, 那就選還原到4月9號的系統模式

I've tried this method before, and it worked.
BUT make sure you back up those newly downloaded files/programs.

If you think you got a virus... (there are a lot of them on the net now...trojan.. netsky...) I suggest you go get a virus protection software... Norton Utility is pretty good...

Even if you re-install your computer, you can still get a virus later...

Spend like 50 bucks to get a virus protection software is the best solution...


Probably your DNS configuration problem.. just guessing.. have you tried to use other browser? Try Netscape.. and see if you have the same problem?

Did you try to search for the 'hosts' file in your local drive?

Commonly you will see two 'hosts' files. Open with notepad the one that has more than 1Kb and find all the entries for that website and delete the entire line. Save the file.

yo, man. try to find the removal tool in www.norton.com, coz they may have some of Trojan removal tools. Just try it, why not?

the point is that u will never know if it is really "clean" or not, i mean, there is no single program that can catch all of the virus/trojans.

i still would have formatted it just to be sure and do a full scan on the rest of the drives after i got my windows installed again.
