yeah, we have to report only 50% on stocks profit. Actually buying stocks doesn't totally equal to "Risk", such as "Coke", "Microsoft", "Intel" or "Ebay", these famous and steady stocks are absolutely considering a long term investment. I dealed with charter banks before, while every financial advisor tells me that Mutural Funds are safe, my current package value is only 50% left  . Of course, there is a way to earn profit without any risks, that is put all of your money to a long term saving, however, 100% tax reporting on the interest. Anyway, I am quiet seriously to share my experience, that is what the financial advisors concerning at the moment of they provided professional advises, it is not your return for sure, I feel they are 99% concerning the bank's benefits. You know what? many of Mutural Fund advisors they don't buy mutural funds for theirselves but stock combinations.

(Mr. Buffett also points that out)

thanx for your info bro :) ...do you have any investment with ing安泰?

it's not bank based and no branches at all...kind of risky..but its rates are for sure much higher
ING group is the 17th largest company in the world. 2nd largest financial group after citigroup. None of the canadian chartered banks is even close to it. Risky???

Yeh the one year rate for GIC in most banks is a little more than 1%
However if you go for 5 year, the rate is a little higher than 3%, which is still shit IMO, the inflation rate is higher than that. lol

By the way, check out PC Financial
http://www.banking.pcfinancial.ca/en...eferid=sideNav

Their 1 year GIC rate is 1.6%, it's not bad compared to other chartered banks. It's backed by CIBC, so shouldn't worry too much about risk

Also, the Feds is gonna raise the interest rate soon. Experts predict that the interest rate is gonna keep rising to stabilize the current booming rate of inflation. So stay tuned and see what Greenspan has to say :biglaugh:

I think it's good time to buy some real estate now while the interest is still low if you can get a fixed-rate mortgage. The rising interest rate is probably gonna have a negative effect on the stock market. But who knows what'll happen in the long run

As for US currency. China imports a lot from the US lately, that'll only drive up US dollar. But yeh, the situation at Iraq and Bush's stupidity makes things kinda unpredictable

I don't know about Canada, but the interest rate in US is expected to rise very soon. If you've got extra money in hand, buy some stocks. The interest rate for GIC is far lower than the rate of inflation, so you're actually losing money over time. Well if you don't wanna take the risk, just buy some stable growth funds or whatever. I personally think it's not a good idea to put your money in a bank(eg. CD, GIC, etc.) when the economy is booming.

that's right bro! i have made my mind...to transfer all the money to an ING account...at least the interest rate is 2.50% for the Investment Savings Account (ISA)!

thanx for your info about ING...unfortunately...The Fortune Magazine website doesn't allow people to see the top company list for free ...well..i will have to goto the library to check out those free magazines when i got free time...
