I wonder what brand of laptop is reliable? I want to get one during boxing day for school work.

boxing day sale... u're probably looking at buying from Futureshop or Bestbuy then...

Can't really go wrong with any of the bigger brands IMO...

but personally i'd go with either Toshiba or Sony. Both are nicely built with Toshiba a bit morefair priced. Do your research on what kind of hardware best suits your needs and go check them out earlier instead of making your decision on boxing day.

hate to let you down but I dont remember ever seeing laptop on sale on boxing day. not at 40% off anyways.

it's a cut-throat business, most retailers can not afford to give sales unless the supplier companies offer sales to the retailers, which was never much.

as far as laptop is concerned, I would suggest you find a laptop that you really like, and with good specs. buy one and be settled for three years at least.

you can go for the cheap ones, but they are often too heavy or too slow. and build quality is not the same, even within the same brand.

take acers for example, consumer ones are made in china while business ones are made in US.

as for laptop, make sure you do your homework, and buy the one you really like and need.

as for size, i would suggest you to get a small one. i know too many people who bought this huge 17' laptop but regretted their decision in within a week.
