Well, blueice, if you took out an ad in the newspaper and slanders me, of course I'll sue you for the money, but honestly I wouldn't care for anything else.

Logically, if you want to piss someone off, you would insult them. The logical thing to do for this someone is to get pissed off, and retaliate and insult you back.

On a granded scheme of things, a set of logic with few elements makes bad conclusions. As per example, if you look beyond the two party involved, and get a third party - the law in here. It would be logical to fore go retailating to the insult and sue you for money.

And suing is not retaliation, it is the law of the land. This is how a righteous society correct itself. I am not going waste my time correcting racists, I'll report them and let the people's court decide.

My opinion is that racist comment is either to be corrected, or ignored. So I didn't read that part about abien, in fact I can't read chinese very well... I need my dictionary. *ahem*

The stupid and funny thing is that I am not even sure what the first insult meant.

Aw gees, you guys got racially insulted, did you guys get a lawyer? What, you told them to fuck off? Damn, that wouldn't look good in court, guess you losted you cool, and your case.

It depends on how you define fight, and how you view the legal system.

If someone punchs me, and I drop my books and punch back. Thats a fight.
Fighting is retaliation, you return the offense with the same or greater 'unf'.
I could grab a baseball bat and call up like 50 other friends, thats a big fight.

But if I go home and get a court to send you a subpoena a week later, is that a fight? Not a very good one...

In context to the issue, when I said don't fight back, it doesn't mean do nothing.
Do something that doesn't allow retaliation, it means stop fighting back with insults or being so 'inch'.

I had better things to do, so I didn't get a chance to clearify my sentence later on in the day.


The legal system is not an instrument for fighting.
Suing someone is letting the court knows that someone have voilated their laws, and however you view it, the court will "fight" the racist as it see fits.

Ideally the courts represents and serves the society. If someone is going against our society, the courts will correct this someone however it sees fits.

And since you (should) have a limited influnce to the court, the court might even decide you are wrong. The other person might not be racist, and you are just being overly sensitive to criticism.

But I said ideally. The world sucks, people just use the courts like a tool. (just like at RIAA in the US.) You can say it is another form of fighting, but it shouldn't be.

It is justice. And it is dead.

So you fight in the way you know best. Hooray for you.

this kinda get off-topic. To simply put, you are letting legal system to fight back for you, but of course, you could lose. In terms of fighting back, you are trying to get justice done, be it by yourslef or through other means (baseball bat, friends' help, court)

so I think it's the same intent. You just wanna express and react when you got insulted. The only difference is the method. Fighting back is not just literally, but can be a figurative speech.

You were just fighting back in a way that seems 'unhelpful', and I failed to point that out directly. I am really shy.

I get insulted by mods there a few times, but I've learnt that things would turn for the better if I don't throw a fit. Unlike fighting, the people's court will prevail, aways. (it just takes more time.)

And when you fight, how do you know you are right? With a court, agian, ideally the judgement is aways what is best for the people. A court is unlike a fight, because people think (internet) violence is stupid.
