My Dining Experience in Seattle

My dream restaurant that I look strongly forward to seeing one in vancouver.

I have recently visited Seattle. A friend of mine recommended a small tapas restaurant for me and my gf to try out.

It took me quite awhile to find this restaurant because it's a very hidden restaurant. It took me quite awhile to find this place because it's quite hidden. It's a really small restaurant that has only 5 ~ 7 tables for 2 ~ 4 people.

When we finally got in, the manager/owner offered each of us a shot to start the evening while he was setting up the table for us. After we sat down, he asked us rather we wanted to have some martini's and he offered to mix something different for us. Of course I said "Sure!!!". The martini's were pretty good! :-)

We ordered 4 dishes and they ranged about $10 ~ $13 a dish. When the manager served us the first dish, he brought us two glasses of white wine and said, "see if you like these to pair with your first dish." I was like... "wow... that's nice!". And then same thing happened again for the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th dish. Actually, each of us got one red and one white wine for the 2nd and 3rd dish. By the end of the 3rd dish, I was already telling myself not to think about the amount on the bill and just to enjoy and have fun. I thought the amount on the bill would be pretty big based on the amount of alcohol we had.

Surprisingly enough, the bill was only $103 US!!! I thought I must be very drunk when I first saw it. I confirmed that with my gf and she said, "yeap! that's the amount. It's super cheap!!!" I decided to pay by credit card. After I got the visa receipt, I found out that the grand total was already printed on the receipt and there wasn't even a tips section that I could fill out. I asked that manager about it and he said, "tips? no way! tips is bullshit! don't worry about it!". I was like! Wow!!! that's crazy! Anyways, I left about $10 for tips.

It was an amazing dining experience I haven't had for a long time. I wish someone would open a restaurant like this in Vancouver!!!
:-)

For the amount of wine we had? $100 is cheap. This place is called Elemental at Gasworks. Gasworks is a park beside Lake Union in Seattle downtown.

what type of crusine is this? and what type of dishes did you guys have?

i think it's not too bad a deal, considering the food already cost around 50 USD, and a drink with each dish for each preson... that's around 5drinks each person.. that's another 50bucks.. so compared with hotel restaurants it's a good deal, if you compare it with something you mix at home then of course expensive la.

It was a tapas bar. We had around 8 ~ 9 drinks person actually because some courses came with 2 wine pairings.

$100 for a meal of 2 people is not very expensive if you eat and drink at any nice restaurant in Vancouver. For example, C restaurant, Raincity Grill, CinCin, Bin 941/942, Shiru-bay, Le Crocodile, etc. Of course, it's not a daily or even weekly thing for me. I don't make that much $$ yet! :-)
