what is Social Mixer mean?
just some sort of 'fast dating' term?

I find it extremely difficult in Vancouver to meet new fds by socializing with unknown ppl
(introduction thru fds don't count)

Even if you happen to meet up, you just see them couple times and never get to 'gel' with one another
