Actually.. ppl are just pissed off at the location that the skytrain is going to be built. 
The original plan was to build the skytrain to Coquitlam, Port Moody or whereever(Don't have the exact detail). The purpose was to make rural area more accessible to the ppl, so it can be developed. Sort of like expanded the rim of the metropolitain area.
Right now, cuz of the Olympic thing, the money will be spend on building a skytrain from Richmond to downtown. PPl in coquitalm feel betrayed from a promise and the skytrain might not offer as much long term potential. |
Why are people bitching about it? Afterall they are unwilling to pay extra for extending the new millenium line. Plus residents complain about higher crime rates wherever new skytrain station opens up.
The core sector of vancouver will always be downtown. That's where all the business and money sector are based . It makes logical sense to link it up with the airport with a rapid transit line. That's why some people don't like living far away from center of vancouver cause it's not convinent.
