do u think there is a change goin on in the plates in the near future?
but look at the past decade and 2....there wasn't earthquakes thats this big....
i know tectonic plates are moving constantly....
but some how it feels like something is gonna change soon....@@
the plates of pacific and the asia plate is acting up or something...maybe too much energy stored....
sigh.....i feel lucky that i live in vancouver....

Actually, Vancouver is not any better. Vancouver is near a "subduction" zone (Cascadia Subduction Zone), where one plate goes under another one. If there is a catastrophic sliding between these two plates, this huge subduction earthquake will happen.
Subduction earthquakes are the largest earthquake in the world, and can exceed a magnitude of 9.
These huge subduction earthquakes don't happen too frequently, usually once in every 400 - 500 yrs. The last time it happened, though, was in 1700. We are in 2004.....so....we are getting there >_<
