yea...everyone got diff goals.
my goal is not simply a pass in school....
so it's really hard for me to feel proud for ppl who got grades that i don't think are good...
for example, some ppl may be satisfied with a pass. i really have no idea how to praise ppl who tell me "YEA! I PASSED!"...
but on the other hand, everyone also has diff things that he/she is good at...
i think to be "REAL," we should praise on the things that the person is actually good at.
making up praises is pretty fake i think...
for example, if i think i'm good at bball, and i go up to MJ and tell him "YEA! I'M SO GOOD AT BBALL!" and he replies...."WOW! YOU ARE SO GOOD!" don't you think that's fake?
if Einstein tells me..."WOW! KEN! YOU ARE SO SMART!" don't you think that's fake?
but if ppl tell me something like "WOW KEN! YOU ARE SO HARDWORKING!" i would take that as a praise. if ppl praise me on something that i'm not good at, i would personally take it as an insult.
anyways, no offense to what you said. those are just my opinions. :)

oh, I don't see any offense at all la~
yah, for ppl who just wanna pass (I believe everyone of us has encountered that kind of person), of course I won't say sth like "good grades", I'll just say "congrat. u pass!" or sth like "wow~that's a close one, congrat."
I guess it's just the angle u think from. I praise them for "strivin' hard not to fail" or "succeed in avoiding failure", but not for the high mark. :spin:
btw, if u also think that ppl's capabilities are different, then I guess it wouldn't be bad to praise a friend who tried hard, rite? I mean, for those who don't study, they know they don't deserve a praise; however, for those who tried hard, they worth a praise even if the mark is not high enough lor. Like my friend in bio-chem, she's like "I got 58%! thank God," and I would be happy for her.
we should be true to ourselves...if u think the mark is not high, don't prase them for the marks, but in a different aspect lor :)
