Nowdays, with Win2000 or XP, if the system is properly maintained, you don't need to reinstall the whole computer.

The registry recover wouldn't work if your system have some buggy sharewares. If you install a program, and registry recover to the date before that, that program will not work.

SO, using Ghost to make an image file is the best way, or if you have back up tape.
