if u partition ur harddrive well, formatting wont be a problem. i do a format every 2 months no matter what. u have no idea how much junk windows can produce. i keep my programs/games/datas in other partition. so no harm's done when i do a format. i dont even have to do back ups!!!

when i was working as the technitian, i will never tell my customer to format as well. coz it only means trouble to me i'd have to go over and help them back up files...reinstall....and restore the backup files...and then they will went on saying "i used to have this great program..." or "i heard there is this great program...." -.-

by the way, maybe u want to do a registry clean up too

norton wont install coz it thinks there are other anti-virus software in the system

for registry clean up,i recommand regcleaner

I suppose I alwasy consider me as a professional computer expert. I got somewhat 6 years experience and I format my computer every day. Well, and my HD is still running solid. Me means fully unconditional format, not just some shitty quick ones. So, you bet.
