俗語說：「忠臣不事二主，烈女不事二夫。」這句話衡諸當今的美國職籃NBA，似乎不太適用。

在現實的NBA，征戰超過15年，並從入門到退休，始終效力同一隊的現役球員，已經屈指可數。

10餘年前，始一而終的籃球員或許還有不少，例如活塞湯瑪斯、杜瑪斯，湖人魔術強森，
塞爾提克博德、麥克海爾，馬刺羅賓森、爵士史塔克頓等。

但邁入21世紀後，這些稀有動物已愈來愈少，就連喬丹、馬龍都無法免俗。
至於現役球員中，溜馬「大嘴」米勒可說是最具代表性人物。

對溜馬球迷而言，「米勒時間」不是指啤酒，而是射手米勒總能在第四節尾聲展開三分神射功夫逆轉戰局。

自1987年在選秀會首輪第11順位被溜馬相中後，18年來，米勒沒有披過其他任何一隊戰袍，
這對選手轉隊頻繁的NBA簡直是天方夜譚。

本月初米勒宣佈，本季結束後，他將步上馬龍後塵，高掛球鞋，並極可能和爵士雙老一樣，
最後帶著不曾贏過總冠軍的遺憾，退隱山林。

當米勒本季打完引退後，NBA效力同隊時間最長的現役球員，
就輪到現年29歲，身高6尺11吋的灰狼上季MVP賈奈特身上。

1995年被灰狼在首輪第五順位選進的賈奈特，不僅是20年來，第一位從高中直接跳入職業的籃球員，
更兩度簽下超過九位數美元合約，成為灰狼隊史上的招牌戰將。

如無意外，賈奈特職籃生涯，10年後可能也在「從一而終」的關係裏畫上句點，
但賈奈特要的不只是這幅貞節牌坊，他希望有朝一日，也能登上冠軍王座。

雖然穿著灰狼制服已邁入第10年，但賈奈特去年才率狼群打破季後賽連續七年首輪出局魔咒，
最後於西區決賽不敵湖人。

I think it's because of the salary cap, so good players have to go to other "inferior" teams to get the contract they really want.

it's the only reason I can think of that will make kings give up chris webber - so they can pay more money to the euro guy, mobley and bibby. simply put, they can not afford webber anymore

should just suck it up for play for the game not the gain :nono:

since I am an ECON guy, I think it's a demand and supply thing
a player has the right to demand money he likes to have, and a team has right to whether to match it or not

of course, loyalty to a team also plays a factor in terms of whether to re-sign with same team or with another one
but there are also other things these players have to consider: money, relatinoship w/ the team, chemistry, coaching style, style of game's tempo(do you think B. Wallace/Shaq would want to play in PHO?? they would be like 3 seconds behind everyone else on the team running up and down the floor), championship rings(K. Malone is the best example),
personal ego(Kobe/Shaq departure 'cause of their disagreement of who's a better leader)

so I think loyalty is only a partial and not most important factor in a pro baller's life.....
if you want loyalty, look for it in amateur leagues, juninor leagues...
'cause you won't find much of it in the professional leagues
