Power would be one of the last thing I look for in a family car. Enough to haul people and goods around from point A to point B is all it needs.

Price, Reliability, Look, Interior and NVH comes first.

Camry XLE V6 ~37K, same as Maxima GLE.

Brand new Acura 3.2TL sells for 37K too.

I'll really feel dumb if I buy a normal TL and forget TLS.

My parents don't want luxury car brands. So that includes Acura, Infiniti, Lexus, Mercedes, BMW, etc.

So my choice are pretty much limited to Camry or Maxima or others? Suggestions?

In my opinion your best choice would be Subaru Impreza WRX Wagon. Very sleeper look with lot's of potential.

Subaru Impreza WRX Wagon is family car lookingish. Stock wise it still have less power than 2002 Maxima.

but i think he wants some luxury, interior room in his family car too
not the cheap looking plastic and the small interior room in Suby

that's why he wants Camry fully loaded, else he could have a Corolla as an option instead

Exactly! You know exactly what I'm talking about. I find the interior of Camry and Maxima to be pretty good. Luxury is also pretty good, good for everyday commuting.

I test drove the Camry today and one thing made me really puzzled. XLE V6 can not come with 6 disc in dash changer while the SE V6 can. And the SE V6 doesn't have auto-climate while XLE V6 does. Their explanation is, because auto-climate takes up a lot of space therefore 6 disc in dash changer won't fit. However in the US models they all included even with navigation. Weird.

If he isn't getting TL Type S or Impreza WRX Wagon. I would wait for the 2.3L Mazda 6. I want no part of the Duratec V6. The wagon version is fairly nice too.
