| I used to drive a 98 VW Jetta, and my auntie a 98 Passat. Both of us had a lot of problems with our cars, especially when they aged. I acutally had to call a tow truck 5 times in a month. Can you believe it?? And I also had to replace ECU, which cost about $1100. I don't know about ECUs in other cars, but $1100 was really expensive. And my auntie spent about $2000 replacing parts and fixing up other problems in less than 2 years. Maybe current Passats are not that problematic anymore...i don't know.
Right now I drive a 97 Nissan Maxima SE. Yeah, i traded my Jetta 'cuz I had had enuf shxt with the car. From my experience, Maxima is ALMOST great perspective. It's spacious inside; it's engine is powerful; the interior material is great; nice stereo. However, the front seat is not that supportive in my Maxima, the trunk is kinda small compared with my Jetta. But anyway, my Maxima literally problem free.
For 2004 Maxima, JD Power rated its interior and mechanical quality for only 2 stars i think, which Camry and Accord both have 3 stars. Also, Maxima depreciates a lot compared with Accord and Camry. If I were to choose among those 3 cars, I will still go with Maxima 'cuz I love its award winning VQ35de engine so much.
Hope my experiences and opinions help.
By the way, I thought IS300 and GS300 have the same I6 engine, while Camry, Highlander, Avalon have V6 engine?? |
