Opinion to a new family car

Our family is going to buy a family car (4 door mid-size sedan) soon. Please give me some suggestions. Budget range is under $40K.

1) Toyota Camry
2) Volkswagen Passat
3) Nissan Maxima

or any others?

Should I wait for the new Mazda 6 and Accord to come out?

Our family have owned several Toyota cars and we loved it. However I like the Passat because of its nice interior. However, my friend driving a 96 Passat is having nightmare driving it becuase many little problems such as power windows, A/C are malfunctioning. They said fixing VW also costs a lot. So our family is leaning towards the Camry.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

for the 4 years, not even a small problem caused ^_^
and very comfortable

and Accord is not bad 2, it got horsepower
but not as comfortable as Camery

how about go for ES300 or Arcua TL type-S

those cars are great family sedan ^^"

I love the Type-S and ES300. However my parents don't think so. They don't want to 引人注目. Driving a Camry, Accord...etc certainly won't make people go......."WOW, Nice car!!!"

I haven't test out the Altima yet. I've test the Maxima. I think the transmission is a little weird. I'm driving and holding ~60 and the gears keeps on shifting up and down. Other than that, it's pretty good.

Basically mine. They set the standards of what they want and I go shopping. But then they have to make the final decision since they're paying for it.

Yup, I rather have the Maxima over Altima.

However like I said, the transmission of Maxima is really weird. I'm driving "straight" ~60, it shifts up and down continously. Is anybody experiencing such problem when they drive the Maxima?

Before 2000 VW only gave 2 year warranty on their cars. They bumped it up to 4 years now I think.
