with a bleeding child who busted his skull open while falling down the stairs, or a wife who accidentally chopped her finger off making supper for family, you can be damn sure the people who are driving will do anything to pass you and head for hospital. Even if that means running you off the road.
So next time, if you don't drive fast enough, move to the right lane and let the cops justify them for their speed. | and how often does those things happen? even so that guy would be better off calling an ambulance than driving like a maniac risking other people's life. the ambulance will get the emergency patient to the hospital faster.
and i don't think it's that hard to tell if the guy is solely picking on u or is really in a hurry. |

while you can easily tell if the car behind you is really in emergency or not~
I believe most of the time, they just want to pass you. However, sometimes you might run into some really nasty losers, which happened to me a while ago.
In one early afternoon last winter, I was driving my 93 Colt (Mitsubishi Mirage) home from TechBC to back to Richmond through Hwy 91. However, when I was passing the Knight Bridge intersection, there was an old Corvette (probably 80 someting) closing in fast from the other lane. I was changing to the right lane to avoid the left turn traffic before getting off the highway. I was sure that Corvette was far away behind me and I was doing about 110km at that time. However, 5 seconds after I changed into the right lane, I found myself being honked like crazy by that car. I didn't pay a lot of attention when I got onto Alderbridge. By then, my speed was about 80km and I was following the traffic in the front. But that car started to tailgate and flash me. I still didn't do anything. Suddenly, the traffic at the left lane cleared up and that jerk passed me from the left and tried to cut me off ( without signals of course). The distance between me and the car in the front is close (less than 1 car) because of heavy traffic in my lane. That jerk was trying to scare me and I was getting mad. So instead of squeezing the brakes, I put my foot on the gas to force him out of my lane. I also honked him for about 5 seconds. After that, the jerk went back to my tail and started to flashing me again. This time I didn't wanted to play with him anymore since my car is old. But he followed me closely for almost 10 min. in Richmond. I let him follow and drove slowly around the city. Finally he gave up at a traffic light and got off the car trying to treaten me. Luckily, there was lots of ppl around the intersection, I didn't budge him a bit and just drove away. Actually, to see that jerk (a cantonese around 20 something~) standing there yelling and fingering on a busy street is kind of funny. I guess I should have driven to the Police station and watched his reaction......... |
