it's all a matter of whether the driver has the guts to drive fast or not...and luck....

I've also tried Surrey to UBC in 32 mins, stopped only a couple of times for red lights, no cops, average 100km on 2 lane roads....

oh...and this was done on a 98' Buick Century, 3.1L OHV engine, 165HP, all stock, FF <-- ignoring the body roll...the car actually handles pretty well....easy to control when it pushes in corner

How fast is the V40 and what kind the mod he have?

According to C&D, V70R do 0-100km in 7.6sec, if the V40 can easily beat the V70R, so, that means it is faster then 7.6sec.

hum... it seems like there are some people know the owner of the V40, but no one seems to know what kind the mods he have under the hood.

And why are you people bragging about going 200km/h? What's so special about that? If you want to be the king of speed, move to Tokyo! The jap people there will laugh at you for only going 200km/h....it's so slow that most Integras there can kick your ass. I don't think speeding on public roads is anything to be proud of.

And about the "R" Badge on the Volvo. Does any one have prove that the guy has performace mod in his car?

Sure, let's talk numbers. Here's the V40 OEM Spec data from www.volvocanada.com:

1.9Liter, 4 Cylinder, double overhead cam, twin-scroll turbocharger with intercooler
Top Speed 215 kph
Acceleration (0-100kph) 9 second
Horsepower 165hp@5250rpm
Torque 177ft. lbs@1800rpm
5 speed automatic transmission, auto-adaptive with Winter mode
Four-wheel, power-assisted disc brakes, ventilated front, solid rear
15" wheel brake system
Drag coefficient 0.32

So the 2.5" exhaust system will help with the top end of the car....
lets say boost to 180hp? or even 185hp at the flywheel
K&N cone filter, what does that do? NOTHING
17" wheel with sticky tires, that'll slow down the acceleration of the car since it takes more energy to spin the bigger rims
0-100kph time decrease to 10sec

By now you'll be saying, I forgot about the turbo upgrade! That'll be atleast 50hp increase!!! Wait...read this: Taken from edmunds.com car reviews

All S40/V40s are equipped with a turbocharged DOHC 1.9-liter, 16-valve, four-cylinder engine. Maximum horsepower is 160 at 5,100 rpm. A more important figure, however, is the 170 ft-lbs. of torque available as low as 1,800 rpm. The low torque peak is due to Volvo's light-pressure turbo system (LPT), which is designed to build boost pressure more quickly than a normal turbo system. Maximum boost pressure is 8.4 psi. The 1.9-liter engine is mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. The transmission offers three modes: Economy, Sport, and Winter. As of now, the automatic transmission is the sole choice--a shift-it-yourself manual tranny isn't offered. Traction control is optional.

Mitsubishi TD04L-12t Turbo is an upgrade turbo for the 3000GT. What does that mean? Big boost and anything but low end power. So with the Volvo's light-pressure turbo system gone, 0-100kph acceleration decrease again to 11sec. No doubt top speed will likely be up to the 240kph mark, but low end/speed is sacrificed.

I highly doubt that this car with these mods can beat a stock S/V70 according to the numbers. A sub-compact S40 striped of its quick acceleration and replaced with top end power is just not right.

I'm merely speaking on numbers and are of my personal opinion. Feel free to prove me wrong.
