If it's really for the 2003 market in North America, Japan should already have it in showrooms 3 months prior.
Honda is selling every S2000 it can build. It's in a class of its own. There's no need to steal the limelight away from Honda's own NSX. Plus, new Skyline and Toyota's new Supra will compete against the new Z. That makes 3 reincarnations of yesteryear sports cars still competing in the same class. With Mazda's plans for a possible new RX-7, why would Honda venture the NSX into an unknown market (supercar territory) when the battlefield is still unattended. The S2000 is not in the same market as these other sports cars.

Honda wants volume sales, not niche market targeting. They want $$$~ :)

hahahaha just read it again.... 360 horses and weight less than meita???wow bigger engine & lighter weight (and the 360 horses are from a NA inline six) right, and civics are gonna have over 300 hp too and as light as a bicycle. NSX is gonna become a hover car in 2003.
don't know why people have that much time to make up all that BS, if the car ever comes out and selling at that price i'll sell everything i have to get that car.

The S2000 was originally projected to be have 2400-2500 lbs curb weight and a higher price tag around 37,000 USD. However Honda drop the aluminum suspension from the concept car. It also went from 2.5L Inline 5 to 2.0L Inline 4. The power output for the 2.5L Inline 5 was 220 hp with about 170 lb-ft torque. 360 hp from 3.0L Inline 6 isn't impossible to accomplished however Honda doesn't build Inline 6 but rather Vee Angle 6 due to better packaging.

More power and lighter weight is the DNA of Type R.

360 HP from a NA I6 isn't impossible, but it's not far from impossible, and lighter than miata? how are they going reduce 211KG weight with a bigger engine? are we going to have a type-r that's made from carrbon fiber?

honda doesn't play with high engine displacement because honda can't tuned it at least as good as 2000 cc engine.

we already have an overpriced sports car from honda, u want another overpriced one?
oh and to save another good 50 lbs with a bigger engine which will probably weight another 150 lbs u sure need something lighter than aluminun.... or we can have a first stripped stock car in the market with no nothing in the interior.
and u should know that a part of s2000's nimbleness comes from it's front midship better than me.... as the engine is mounted fully behind the front axle.... now open ur hood and imagine if an I6 can be fully mounted behind the front axle.... i don't have a s2000 but i don't think it's possible. hmmm is honda gonna make it's first muscle car?
