we already have an overpriced sports car from honda, u want another overpriced one?
oh and to save another good 50 lbs with a bigger engine which will probably weight another 150 lbs u sure need something lighter than aluminun.... or we can have a first stripped stock car in the market with no nothing in the interior.
and u should know that a part of s2000's nimbleness comes from it's front midship better than me.... as the engine is mounted fully behind the front axle.... now open ur hood and imagine if an I6 can be fully mounted behind the front axle.... i don't have a s2000 but i don't think it's possible. hmmm is honda gonna make it's first muscle car?
There are faster, cheaper, innovative and more enjoying cars from Japan but none of them has the overall pacakge that NSX has. Mid-engine layout is just another league above rest of them. NSX is definitely getting overpriced and outdated which is due to competitors making huge improvements on their products.

Anyways S2000's nimbleness comes from it's lightweight and 50/50 weight distrubutions. If you subtract more weight off the car it will help make it even more tossable and nimble. For an all aluminum car I think the weight distrubution will be quite different. Possibly with more weight located at the front unless Honda push the wheelbase out further and ultilized the space wasted by the airbox.

i'm sure NSX was a leading edge car 10 years ago, but now it needs a lot of improvement to justify it's price tag.... not just a bit of face lift. for the price(or a bit more) i'd get a lotus esprit. same MR layout, V8 twin turbo charged, handbuilt too.

i sensed some BS when i first saw the article. making the car lighter is certainly nice (but lighter than miata? duh? isn't it gonna be a production car?). but how r they going to maintain the weight distribution with a bigger engine? they're no t going to destroy the s2000 they've successfully engineered. as i said it doesn't seem possible to maintain the front-midship layout, weight is gonna shift to the front with an longer I6. now a nose driven, more powerful but not really that powerful s2000 will please no one, not even those muscle car lovers.

NSX have better build quality than Esprit although both are handbuilt. Honda has better reliability than Lotus too. I dream about NSX ever since high school kid. I guess I am a little biased since I followed that car.

Type R is more power, stiffer body, lighter weight and a lot of labor required to make it all happen. That's why it is always produced in very limited quantities until now. If Honda placed a bigger engine into S2000 it will be V6 not Inline6 because of better packaging. Isn't Nissan saying their FM platform sibling G35 (52/48) and 350Z (53/47) have better handling than 50/50 weight distrubution opponents. I added some modifications up and found that will save about 100 lbs off current S2000 so you can still playing around trying to fix the weight distrubution.

i'm a little biased too, esprit is better than NSX both in quality & reliability(it's made in england too, more prestige)....since i don't drive a esprit and u don't drive a NSX and we are both biased there's no point arguing about this.
nissan was full of shit like it always is(yah and i drive a nissan ), so far all the tests on 350Z on car magazines state that the car does not handle as good as their 50/50 opponents. most of the editors blame the excessive weight, and the fact that the engine isn't fully mounted behind the front axle(altho nissan called it FM platform). yah i know s2000 can be made more powerful & lighter, but to achieve the states shown in the article based on current production s2000 is nearly impossible.

I am judging Lotus based on Elise. I had one week's time with a friend's NSX. The car impress me flat out on things it can do.

Yah the article went little too far indeed.
