well on the comparison level on paper i do agree and expect G35 to perform better than 330Ci but not "blown away" since most of the time German cars especially BMW excel even with lower HP compare to its competitors....however sth should be noted those 0-60 times are under IDEAL or perfect condition with perfect launch and pro driver behind the wheel
my friend, doing brake-stand launch in his auto 330Ci cannot even do under 8s, the best he did was low 8s and that's with AC, DSC off.....I am not saying his car isn't capable of doing at least the low 7s or high 6s (considering his is auto) just that because he is not pro, cannot launch perfectly and condition might not be perfect which cause the longer time to 100km/h and under normal condition on the road i dont think any car has much chance to reach its fastest 0-100km/h times
those magazine figures are only good for comparions IMO

the 1st gear of BMW is radiculous 1:4.XXX
that's what i remember
and BMW is famous for its launch in the class
and also horsepower doesn't affect 0-60mph much
instead you should see the time of 1/4miles

The bimmer's 2.93 final drive will make the RPM climb slow. For example S2000 has a 4.1 final drive but only a 3.8 first gear.

HP affects how fast you reach your top speed. Gearing comes in and mess up things. The 1/4 mile time came out to be exact even in that test.

I have seen quite a lot of 330Ci manual in the high 5's so it doesn't come as a suprise. It's quite tricky to launch automatics perfectly. It's a lot easier with manual after pratice.

0.1 second diff is not a lot...and 0-60mph is NOT everything there is to whether a vehicle is good or not!

4.0sec and 3.9sec 3.9 just looks a lot faster
