what are Pulleys? i read a couple posts that changing Pulleys would increase the supercharged engines.
what does it do and what are the disadvantages of chaning it?

First of all, open up the hood, and those round gears you see with belt wrap around them are the pulleys...... and pulley is used to drive Supercharger as well.... by changing smaller diameter pulleys, you are making the supercharger spinning faster, thus sucking in more air.... but risking belt slippage....

EDIT: Forgot to mention, you can change main pulleys to aftermarket, lighter pulleys and MAYBE(some doesn't gain power at all)gain a bit of power by decreasing the parasitic effects that factory accessory pulleys have on a vehicle's engine

by parasitic effects, he meant your AC may not be as cold or as warm as before, dorm light may be dimmer, headlight may be dimmer too when you accelerate hard.

from my experience with my prelude... pulleys are acutally an worth while mod for me. It's hard to say how much power was gained, but the difference was that the engine would rev up a bit faster, and you'd also gain a bit more low end torque.

but the parasitic effect you guys talked about do exist too. But I find that it only occours when u are at idle. Your lights are dimmer, and your climate control unit would not pump out as much neither. But once you get on the road and keep the engine revving at any thing BUT idle, these problems were basically non-existant..

so there's no guarantees to gain any power, but gotta face risks of belt slippage and other side effects........

I would say, YES if you change main pulley... but by change Supercharger Pulley are you definitely getting power gain....with main lighter pulleys, the engine DOES rev a bit faster than normal..... I know a CL Type S owner with AEM Pulley, and he said he doesn't feel anything except faster revving.....

Think OEM Pulley as Stock rims, and aftermarket pulleys as high end name brand rims..... by lighten up the weight of rims, you are "saving" some HP from engine as it doesn't need as much power to turn the rims/tires....

If you want DIY, change your pulleys, be careful, remember how the belts are located on the pulleys.

AND, don't end up taking off your timing belt too... That's what happened to one of guy that I know... He ended up calling a truck, and had to ask the mechanic to put it back for him.
