Example the Accord Euro R engine makes 90% torque from 2000 rpm up to 8400 rpm redline. Although it's a 2.0L engine with 152 lb-ft peak torque @ 6000 rpm. Engines with variable valve timing with both cam changing and cam phasing will have flatter torque and enhance high rpm capabilities.
this is my torque curve.
186lb-ft@2000rpm (86.9%)
198lb-ft@2500rpm (92.5%)
204lb-ft@3000rpm (95.3%)
211.2lb-ft@3500rpm (98.7%)
212.4lb-ft@4000rpm (99.3%)
207.6lb-ft@4500rpm (97%)
204lb-ft@5000rpm (95.3%)
194lb-ft@5500rpm (90.7%)
175.2lb-ft@6000rpm (81.9%)

If you want to compare %, here is my torque curve. I know VTEC is good, but I think Honda is over advertise this great technology. :)

Yah they did remember the commercial with JV in a Honda dealership showroom? Anyways for lower redline engines you would want to use cam phasing vvt. VTEC is a form of cam changing vvt which helps out higher rpm engines by giving it dual personality because wild cams don't work well in low rpms.

The launch is a bit tricky if your peak torque is up high. You'll get better with more experience as time goes by.

You are suppose to give it a semi hard time (max 3/4 throttle) and not give it too much revs. No easy throttling coz otherwise the hatching marks on the cylinder walls won't allow the rings to bed properly. Also try if possible to go from 60km.h to 80km.h back and forth many many times on one piece of road.

Change the oil at 1500km. After the 1500km or so, do a few speed runs to the redline but make sure the engine is fully warm though.
