is it an oem option?? if it is it's pretty normal i remebered the hid on my old clk cost around that too. still expensive~~

same here, I paid $1800 for mine back in 1998. They're just getting cheaper and cheaper now.

I got mine around just right before year 2000.

And the car I drive is a 99 M3.

HID was not an option for the E36 models in Canada so I had to go with aftermarket (Hella 4600k or something close to that range).
