car private transfer

如果要跟朋友買二手車不是在transfer form上面寫gift就不用付稅金嗎
那這樣要不要什麼證明啊 還是icbc會不會懷疑是要逃稅??

In Ontario, regardless of transfering a car as a gift, you need to pay 8 % tax unless you guys are parents to sons/daughters or grandparents to grandsons/daughters relationship.

Good Luck.

In BC you do not have to pay PST for private transfers, so instead of 14.5% it's 7%

and hand-me-downs are free I think, just have to pay processing fees.

In ontario, they look up a wholesale black book and tell you exactly how much the car worth and charge you the 8% of the car value.

I think you will get into trouble if they find out your paying for the car. Why don't you just ask your friend to write down the lower purchase value on the receipt, so let's say if you are paying for 15,000, have him write down 9,000 or sth, you can still save some money.
