if ICBC can't proof your friend is the primary driver of the vehicle ~

I think they still have to pay for damages ~

go check with their 汽車保險經紀人囉 ~ :)

當初在保險時經紀人有問說你車子是你一個人開
還是有其他人一起開 如果有加你朋友的名子她們就一定要賠

對啊還是問清楚一些細節的東西 不要這麼快放棄把車賣掉

If ICBC comes to this conclusion it means they have seen enough evidence. You have to remember everytime you get pull over your vehicle is tracked by ICBC or everytime you report a claim through ICBC etc. Since 2003 ICBC had been cracking down on vehicles use by non primary driver. You are lucky you didn't get a fine as ICBC have the rights to do so up to $100,000.

Do it right when you put insurance into your car
that's how you prevent getting ripped. Doing things in the shady way just messes it up. What goes around comes around :shurg:

Well, the car i am driving now is under my mother's name but that doesn't stop ICBC from fixing my car and paying for all the damage. As long as the family buys insuarance according to the driver's conditions, (ie. number of years of no accidents) it doesn't matter who the car owner is.

Nope you are just lucky you haven't been caught. The person the vehicle is insured under must drive the car more than 50% of the time.

No lah, it really is how we pay for the insurance. Like I drive to UBC everyday.. so we bought that "special" insurance to cover the way to UBC and back. Like the car is under my mom's name now, but they charge the insurance fee according to my usage as well. So when the car gets damaged, they will still fix it. It happened a few times before and it's always no problem.
