i got the rods for around 700
u can definate go over 280 with the internal set up, all u need is bigger turbo and stuff to go with it
Wow.. $700 is good deal.. mine is like $1200.. cuz they are custom made.. Since it's only a 1.9L, the turbo can go too big, otherwise there will be a big lag for me. With the Garrett T03 0.63 A/R, I think 280hp is not hard to reach, and I might have lots of traction problems with the front 2 tyres. :)

i got it from a guy in the states, the only reason the guy was selling it so cheap was because for some reason he bought an extra set and was selling them desperately. the regular retail price is over 1k even in the cheapest place i can find.

What kind of modify are you planning to do with your S40. Since I am currently working on the V40, perhaps I can give a bit of informations. I got the final price on the Crower Rods today, they are going for about $1300, plus $835 for the JE 8.5:1 pistons and Total Seal rings for about $320. The reason I did the internal upgrade becasue I blow the rings and too much blow-by to the crankcase to cause major oil leak.

Are you looking for big horsepower? the stock internal can only support up to 210hp max.

Still waiting for the custom parts.. It's never good to built a car without shelf stocks. The block is getting bore out now, and new compressor wheel find itself a new compressor housing. :)

Thx.. all of the above sites are in my bookmark for a long long time. :) Actually IPD don't really do engine works, they only re-map ECU, suspension parts and exhaust.

After waiting for the Crower Rods for more than 2 weeks, the shop finally find out it was a mis-shipping from UPS. The shop called Crower on last friday and ask them about the status about the connecting rods, and Crower said they have send it out 2 weeks ago by UPS. With the tracking # from UPS, they finally traced the shippment actually went to Vancouver, WA..... :shakehead Now UPS agrees to sent me the rods by air and credit me back all the shipping charge. Can't believe UPS can screw up Vancouver Canada with Vancouver, WA.

I think my AEM cam gears got lost in the UPS somewhere too!! :midfinger
goddamn it.
Oh well my part, I have the engine back already, it's sitting in the car with everything plugged. But the problem is it WON'T START! I don't think there is gas going into the cylinders...I'll look into that this weekend when I have time....schoolwork is so heavy these days... :blast:

Anyway here's a few pics I took when I craned up the engine.

After going thru lots of troubles, the rebuilt finally starts again. Here are the latest pictures I took at the engine shop, and the engine is going for assembly this week. Hopefully into the car by next week.

Fresh Forged Pistons:



Pistons w/new con-rods:


Crankshaft: Cleaned and polished


Block before polish and bore:


After 0.02" overbore and surface polish:



The head is still waiting for angle valve grind, but the intake and exhaust manifold has been port and polish already.
