pretty much everyone mentioned the proper way of driving a stick car.

I have something to add on

I saw ur post on ur learning about upheal start. Here are the steps when u begin with

1) Stop completely
2) Pull on the hand break
3) step on clutch, put into 1st and give some gas
4) release clutch slowly until the point u feel that ur car is moving foward
5) release the hand break
6) let go of the clutch

after u master this and get use to the releasing point of ur car then u can pretty much skip 2 and 5 combine 3 and 4.

Also, for down shifting, MAKE SURE YOU DON"T MISS SHIFT
what i mean by miss shift is something like if u are driving in a decent speed on ur 5th, and want to down shift to 4th, MAKE SURE ITS AT 4TH not 2nd, or else............... lol...

a tip for down shift is to match the rpm. I dunno what car u are driving so don't really know how much drop in rpm when u shift, but i will give u an example from my own car

I drives a Type R and each shift to a higher gear will result in a near 1000rpm-1300rpm drop, so if i am driving on 5th with 3000rpm, and want to down shift, i will step on clutch, put to nutral, let go of clutch, rev the rpm up to 4500, step on clutch again, put on 4th, and engage the clutch. This way, your car will go much smoother and will not damage ur engine. (This is call double clutch).

You can also do heel and toe, which just place ur toe part on brake, and heel on gas when u are down shifting, step on cluth, give a bit brake, then use ur heal to give gas and match rpm, (shift into the gear u want at the same time) then engage.

just one more thing
always engage in a gear when turning, prefer 2nd gear, but if u are going a bit fast, 3rd is ok (or ur car is close gear ratio).
