Got a ticket today because I was making a left turn on a Yellow light. I was driving about 35km/h and merge to a left turn lane and slowing down, while I was almost at the intersection, the light turned yellow and I decide to make a left turn. The undercover cop car was in the opposite direction. As soon as I make the left turn, he turn on his siren and pull me over. The Asian Cop said I have enough time to make a complete stop at the intersection and I shouldn't make that left turn. I told him I don't have enough space to stop my car in front of the white line and the road was clear, therefore I make that turn. He keep telling me I should have enough space and he said if he was driving a Police car, I would have stopped. I told him no matter what kind of police car he drive, I will still make that turn because I don't have enough space to stop and it was still a yellow light.

I was charged on Section 128(1)(a) Disobey Yellow light at intersection.

128 (1) When a yellow light alone is exhibited at an intersection by a traffic control signal, following the exhibition of a green light,

(a) the driver of a vehicle approaching the intersection and facing the yellow light must cause it to stop before entering the marked crosswalk on the near side of the intersection, or if there is no marked crosswalk, before entering the intersection, unless the stop cannot be made in safety.

fight that ticket, i think u have a good chance of winning. He couldn't have known the situation better than you. He's just full of shit.

Of course I will fight for it, since I don't think I have anything wrong of turning left at yellow light. I have thought of some points already.

1. The officer can't provide any evidents to show I can stop on time in front of the interesection. All he said is "I THINK you can stop on time"

2. Base on Section 128(1)(a), it states that I can still go thru the interesection if the stop cannot be made in safety.

3. There is no way he can tell my speed and braking distance by facing me at the opposite side of the intersection on a bright sunny day.

Can anyone think of some more points, or arguement from the otherside? Thx

the cop may not even show up @ the court.....so go ahead...... the reasons u listed above are reasonable grounds...........goodluck!

i don't think u'll have any problem disputing the ticket, that pig is full of crap

remind me that i got pulled over by a pig going 60 on bridgeport. i was being as incooperative as i could be and that pissed the pig off. but i still left with a warning because i made my point clear that i can take the ticket, put it on the floor and take a steamy crap on it and leave. so he complained about my attitude -yes he told me that i shouldn't have gave him such kinda attitude, i must have hurt his feelings- and let me leave.

- i don't think anyone would stop... I mean... why stop if there is no car infront of you coming from the opposite direction?

- but the point is you can't stop, there is no room, I don't know why that Asian police officer gave you a ticket... maybe he ran out of money for donuts...

- I hate cops who just writes tickets...and I do.. dispute all my tickets...
