First I guess what you mean is that these cars are bought by their parents or relatives. If my guess is wrong please ignore rest of my reply.

This is something I doubt. First of all, please go look look " How much would you spend to buy your kids a car?" topic in
http://www.my604.com/forums/ae-ue-y/...-kids-car.html

As you can see, virtually all ppl agree that they dun wanna buy good car to their kids. Suppose this thought does not change over time, hopefully parents won't buy good car to their children no matter how wealthy they are. (my parents and parents' friends also have this thought)

Conclusion: These good cars seen in school are mostly obtained by the ppl they drive (i.e. students). How they obtain these cars is their skills. But it is not as simple as "having rich parents" or something like that.

Futher stuffs add to my reply:

I think nowadays young people's wealth is very considerable. This fact can be seen especially in Vancouver, a big city belonging to one of G8 (or G9) countries. Look at poeple around you when you are in school, restaurant, mall, or sidewalk. You will see young people wear expensive clothe, bag, and, of coz, drive expensive cars.

Man I feel I am way behind other people. Very often I am confused what path should I follow. My friend majoring in engineering with GPA 3.7+ is doing coop and earing 3000 per month. Yet he needs to work for 5 years in order to purchase one of several AMGs seen in SFU parking lot.

I beg to differ.

What do you mean by skills? Studying skills? Earning potential? or playing skills?

I am here to make a bold statement. Disagree or debate with me if you want.

I think over 85% of the Asians (Taiwanese, Honger, Chinese) under 25 didn't buy their own cars, meaning they didn't earn it. Simply put, their parents bought it for them.

I really think 85% is a very conservative estimate. Think about it -- Can you find 1 in 6 Asians under 25 who bought their cars by themselves? I seriously think we'll be lucky to find even 1 in 30.

Of course, I'm not saying there is anything wrong driving an awesome car your parents bought. There is no crime having rich parents! However, I think it's absolutely pathetic if you laugh at someone's cheap car when the one you drive is bought by your parents.

The reason I am driving a car today is simply because of my capable parents. It has nothing to do with my skills. If my parents suddenly go bankrupt, I'm 100% sure I will have no car.

I cannot agree with you at all, aiaiai. Your line of reasoning is completely flawed. Practically all of us have seen loads of expensive cars at the highschool / university parking lots. How could a highschool / university kid have enough $$ to afford a tricked out M3, AMG, RX-7 with their own money?! Wearing expensive clothes has no directly relationship with driving expensive cars. A pair of Lulu Lemon yoga pants doesn't cost $800k.

I am even dubious if they bought their expensive clothings by themselves.
