nice nice... one of the best i have ever read on this forum.
i had almost exactly same situation as u were :)
nice post......
here is my story......
I didnt know anything about cars til late 1996... parents were shopping for a new car and i found some nice booklets about cars. We started collecting those brochures on most of the sedans or sports cars. Reading magazines was the only source to gain more general knowledge about cars. The more i read the more i desired. The desire of driving a sports car.
I always wanted one of my own car but i did not even dare dreaming my parents would buy me one. I still remembered a brand new black supra sitting in the toyota show room back in 1996. It could only be my dream car. One day, my dad was saying why dont we start looking for a coupe since we have 2 family cars already. i wasnt really paying attention and i thought he was just saying it.
I have a werid habit when reading newspaper. Checking out the car classified section is always the first priorty. I found out there was a used 97 Acura Type R for sell and it got me all excited. I told my dad there was a two doors coupe for sell and its only 1.8 liter and it shouldnt be that much of expense on fuel.
I didnt have any hope my dad would even think about it. To my surprise, he approvaled my proposal. I was not still very sure about the whole thing at the moment but its a sign. Later found out there was something werid about the car. The front and rear badge were gone and the engine bay looked extrmely clean. It was a rebuild. Well, it was the starting of journey of buying a two doors coupe.
Late 1999, we were decided buying a prelude, Acura type R or the new celica. The prelude was sooooo common so we decided not to go with it. The type R didnt even have AC and all the goodies so we choosed the new celica. I still wouldnt believe its true be4 picking up the new car. A two doors sports car i always wanted. Finally, my dream came true. I apperciate my parents for buying the car and I will never take it for granted.
I will keep it as nice shape as the day we drove the car off the lot.
please excuse my grammar and spelling.... its 4 in the morning and i didnt have enough sleep last nite....
