| if your nails are short, then you need to use artificial ones
of course you can do freehand on your own nail, but i don't think it'll look good.
so if you do decide to use artificial ones,
you have to consider what kind of aritificial nails
there are acrylics, gel
there are also different techniques of applying them
you can always mix and match.. but if you don't know what's best, its good to leave it to the nail technician.
- nail tips: it's being glued onto your nails to extend the length
- sculpture nails: gel or acrylics is being extended with an overlay right beyond the length of your own nail
Usually, I do mine with white nail tips, one layer of acrylics to strengthen it, then another layer of top gel to make it shine. I always recommend nail tips unless you are getting crystal nails done. nail tips act as a base and ur nail wont break easily.
in some shops, if you tell them you want to do artificial nails, they just go right ahead into it.
but you have to know that they wont file your nails to the shape that best suits to the nail tip. that's why most of the times, nails turn out to be "okay looking" but not exactly "great looking" be sure to ask for a manicure before. keep in mind that manicure cost more
that's why i recommend a place in old orchard mall, right across crystal mall where IGA is. the shop looks tiny and crappy but the nail servous is wonderful. (the nail technician rents the place and shes a great family friend) price is reasonable for a full servous (manicure AND artificial nails)
book ahead of time, she's usually quite busy.
