如題,


what is difference between formal & semi-formal event?What to wear to formal & semi-formal event?It's always tricky for me. I search google image, in the pictures, ladies wear dresses no matter formal & semi-formal event, so I am confused now.

formal = tie, suit, shirt, and pants for guys
semi-formal = just shirt and pants is already enough.

For girl... I think formal and semi-formal is almost the same

just that in format.. girl can wear long dress w/ sparkeling stuff.. .. but it is semi-formal .. then don't wear anything sparkeling.. just nice looking is good.

for girls, for formal events, it is better to wear long dresses (that covers up to ur anckles)
for semi formal, u can wear a short dress, show off some leg

in other words, formal is more extravicant, and for a lack of a better word, expensive~
semi formal is less so~

like formal guys wear a vest inside their suit...and semi is just regular suit?

i don't think formal necessarily means a black tie. i think any colour of ties is good.

with semi-formal, u can just wear a khaki pant plus a good shirt with collars. formal u have to wear a suit.

for girls, i'm not very sure.

i think black tie is just an expression..
it's not literally "black" tie..
i think it's cuz in the old days the ties are always black, there's no colours for ties~
so that's why they call it a black tie event, but doesnt mean u have to wear a tie that's black~

for guys semi formal don't need to wear tie, can wear blazer, but have to dress shirt at very least, i think can't wear jeans either... in formal must be a suit with tie. i think both occasion can't wear runners.

for girls semi formal wear any dress lor, in formal have to wear a proper dress not just any casual dress
