It should exist in any place that humans live - unfortunately, just like pornography.
I have heard of bribes in high school, and it mostly just involves little things such as gifts, or small amount of $ (in forms of after-school lessons, tutoring sessions, paper corrections, etc...)

In the US, lots of students are accepted into prestigeous universities (Ivy League schools) because their parents donate sizable "research funds". Same as any university, we all have heard these stories - UBC, SFU, McGill, UT, you name it!

True Example: A boy from TW wanted to go to Stanford, but couldn't get in because his SAT scores were too low. So his parents contributed a lot of $ to Stanford. The boy went to the school, and receives top-notch services (townhouse dorm and lots of extras). His parents received a coffee mug that says "...your kid and money goes to Stanford."

Go Figure~ :)

sad, but money does buy you every material goods...

if you contribute $1M US today, i am sure you'll be able to squeeze in standford in this coming september...

true though~~

but i heard that you wont get an honor on the grad certificate.. i think it will mention something about donation, gratitudes.. and etc... lol..
