by the way, i took cpsc152(which is = cpsc122) and 128
122 teaches u C++, 128 is all scheme.

i just checked out the new course description, actually i think 111/121 are pretty cool. maybe u should follow that

and if u look at the cs program requirement in the new calendar, cpsc111/121 are required, so u won't be able to graduate if u don't take them. haha :biglaugh:

looks like they made a big change to the cs program, it seems like they want to get u guys into the theory part of the computer science faster than b4. Hopefully they removed scheme from the 100-level courses.

I really hope 111/121 is better.
I kinda doubt they will remove scheme.
If you took stats or related course in some science course in UBC you probably have used a program called JumpIn. It's written in Scheme by someone in UBC and there is a 300 course that teaches you how to write CLASS in scheme. yes, CLASS, thats crazy

if u look at the course description for 111, it's some basic programming and OO stuff. I don't know how they can teach OO using scheme tho, unless they wanna do C++ and scheme in one course, which is not likely cause that'll kill too many people. And if u look at 121, it teaches about sequential/combinational circuits, which is stuff in 218 now... probably won't gonna involve any programming. so maybe scheme is gone till 3rd year :biglaugh:

seems like there's no more C++ and scheme for 1st year CS people
UBC is going for JAVA
