o{ == A Fact ==

To those guys and girls who are applying universities and colleges:

Well, all I can suggest is apply as many as you can for now. It doesn't cost more, but 到最後, 你將會有很多的choices to choose from.

I also learned this from my prof: UBC and SFU has cheaper (1/2 less) tuition fee, but So if you are allowed to come to eastern side, it's a better choice because you will get whatever courses you want there.

It is also a good choice to go to college first to get to used of univeristy life, 很多學校老師都這樣說, 是真的, you should trust them!

Good luck in applying to universities:)

I dont think it will be a good choice to go into college.
Take me as an example, I used to be a student in Langara college, and at first i also believe that go to college and then transfer to university is a good choice, but things are not always what we think.

First, the registration is hard for college students, different from UBC or SFU that the school will let the newbiew student to reg thier courses, college give only the international student the chance to reg in the first place, then old student, and the newbie students will be the last group to get register. I remember hos blue i felt when i can just get 2 asia study courses in my first semester in Langara...

Second, college is different from university in their way of study, in university, there is research paper , but there is none in college. I guess many pp think this is a good thing to have no research paper to write in college.(heh ,more time to play) In fact, it is no good when u get into university. When u get into university, u must be 2nd or 3rd yr student already. While other students all have the experience of writing essays and such, u will one step slower than them. Take me for an example. the paper now i write in UBC for one year is equal the quantity that i spend 3 year in Langara.

Finally, it is a risk if u dont go to university directly. cause the GPA that university ask for college transfer student is quite high, and u have always worry about ur GPA in order to transfer to unoversity. Many friends i know dont fulfill the unvistiy requirement and then stay in college or just simply go to universities in the East ( here i dont mean that universities in East are not good, but why dont u just simply apply it whenu just graduate form high school neh? )After a big circle, pp who want to study in UBC or SFU still have to go to East..~_~!!

So, dont think that college is a good jumping point for u to get into university. If u can get into university just go in the first place. ah~also forget to mention the benefir of college la..tuition fee is cheaper, parking is cheaper...Besides that, i cant think anything good that go to college instead of go to university directly...

ah..and my english is still sux...~_~!!
guys forgive me....maybe there are many runon and grammer mistake...but 看的懂就好了啦,~~:biglaugh:

ah...forgot to mention UBC and SFU tuition fee is not cheap( expen than college)... and so is theri parking, especially UBC..shit..like black store...$326 per term....(but maybe only i feel expen ba. cause there are many rich pp in Van now..heh heh)
and course in UBC, if u take course in summer and dont choose some good time course, there is no way u gonna delay for ur graduation...
so...future is in ur HAND...guys..^^

hm... the benifit of going to a college first is that the class is smaller, and the prof is usually nice and better.
I have heard many many cases that people going to universities first end up in colleges or people going to colleges cannot get their GPA high enough to transfer to universities...
Universities usually have 100+ ppl in first year class, sometimes even more! ie. first year calculus, or psychology, biology... You have to study by yourself because the class is huge. But in college, you can always ask your prof because the class size is kept under 40 ppl.
I know college doesn't give newbie to pick their courses first, but... that's because there are too many students in BC. This doesn't happen in Eastern. You guys pay less tuition fee, of course, less education resourses will receive...

I hope someone who are in first year now can come out and tell us your story about your university life~:)

I think in University u can ask ur TA for sloving questions ba..they are even better than the prof , cause if u make good relationship with them. u can get more exam tips.but the prof will never tell u good tips since they make the test...

怎麼讀書is of course important. but it is always good if u go to universtiy instead of college...u dont have to worry no more if u just pass the course in U...and this is not possible in college..u pass the course...then u stay in college forever ba..cause no school will look at ur GPA that low..@@!!

mm.i think small class is still no good neh..especially for cheating...(heh heh...kidding la) even the big class , u can discuss with stuff with ur friend without worrying that the prof is looking at u..@@!! cause so many pp..he will never remember u...haha
If u mean that small class can make u hear the prof more easily..tell u what~the clasroom in U are all built lke the concert, and stuents can hear the prof even in the last row..and most prof use microphone in lecture~~ and u dont have to study for urself, u can make more new pp there if there are more pp..heh heh..see the ratio..^^ and if one is really shy, i dont think he can meet a lot of pp in a small room..@@!! SO...go ask ur TA and Prof if u cant meet any person..dont stay in the corner weather it is big room or small room,,otherwise...u gonna get something really low...@@!!

and u emntion :
pay less tuition fee, of course, less education resourses will receive...
then why do we want to waste the similiar time for same course neh...u miss the externality cost of TIME...which many pp dont have~~

ha..feel like we are debating~~~huhu....

hm...

這點問aezs or vega, he is in Tech BC, smaller class, knowing everyone. Prof... UBC first year Engineering

2. TA's vs Prof's : In colleges, there are no TA's... I don't know about UBC or SFU profs... but usually I heard their bad things...

3. Overall: In Universities, fail 如果你還沒有辦法調適university life, a college life is better... 但是如果說你已經可以調適了, 又或者you are a hardcore study person...

$$$ sigh...
