Has anyone taken this course before? I am a "computer idiot" but because I need a science course and my friends kept urging me on taking it, I selected that course. The thing is...I don't really know what this course is about. All I know is that it requires the students to write programs and such? Is this course not suitable for a person who is not even familiar with computers? I am confused and...I do not wish to fail this course in order to pull down my already LOW GPA.

In that case I would highly recommend you to take true science courses, such as Chemistry 120 or Physics 101. As a CMPT graduate, I cannot tell you the difficulty of CMPT-120 except when I first took it, it was quite a shock to me. Back in the old days it was called CMPT-101 and I managed to get B+ with reasonable amount of effort.
