I study at Kwatnlen college now.In 2006 , I will transfer to SFU. I feel a little puzzled after I see transfer notes about math courses.

It is said that Credit is only permitted for one of math 151,154,157.这是否 意味着有了151或154或157的学分就不用上其他两门课了?是否意味着这三门课的学分是可以通用的?我在转到SFU后想拿Busi 里的Minor Program,里面的lower division requirement 要求上157非151和154.我在查完Transfer guide 后发现在我的学院要上MATH1140+1240才可以转到SFU 的MATH 157,而SFU MATH154=KWANTLEN MATH 1130.所以上1130就比较合算一些.可我担心154的学分不能当157的学分.

不好意思,刚才忘记问一个问题了.
我在查TRANFER GUIDE 时发现有这样的NOTES FOR MATH:

KWAN MATH 1140 = SFU MATH 157 Students are advised to study math 1140 and 1240 as a package.

这里的advised 是否意味着必须上MATH 1240 才可以转到MATH 157呢?

the reason why they recommend both math 1140 and 1240 is the structure of sfu math.

for some odd reasons, sfu's calculus I (math 151, 154, & 157) teaches both differential and "very basic" integral calculus (although it doesn't go in great depth), but it also does not equal caluclus I and II combined. most other universities separate differential and intergral calculus in two different courses.

so at kwantlen, math 1140 is differential calculus, and math 1240 is integral calculus.

hence, the transfer guide recommends students to take calculus II to aquire the "minimal" integral calculus covered in sfu's calculus I.

math 151, 157, 154 are respectively calcI for sciences, calcI for social sciences, clacI for biological sciences..
they are all calcI, u pick which course u want to take depending on which major u are going into
for example if u are going to major in business u would take math 157 calcI for social sciences
if u are going into biology you would take math 154 calcI for biological sciences..
and if u are going into physics you would take math 151 calcI for sciences...

this means, for example if u already took 151(or kuc's equvalent) for 4 credits, u will not receive another 4 credits for taking math 157 (or kuc's equvalent)

i believe 151 can be used for 154 + 157..but not vise veras 154 cannot stand in for 157 or 151..
and 157 cannot stand in for 154 or 151...

all these information u are asking are in the university's calender..
and i think u'd be better off asking advisers at ur school or sfu...
