well ~ i know tons of ppl who tried 3+ times to pass it. i don't think it's that difficult though.
yes ~ only the essay counts. all u need is a 30/40 on the essay section to get a 5. |

I took LPI once before I got a tutor, and I got a score of 3. Then my friend introduced me a tutor. I just had him tutor me once and then I passed it. He told me tricks to pass the LPI. As long as your gramar is right, and your sentences don't sound "weird", you will pass. You don't have to use any fancy words or fancy sentence style. you have 10 points to get deducted. If you have a mistake (spelling, grammar, weird sentence, etc.), they deduct a point. I think he told me something like this:
1. Don't use "you" in a sentence
2. Don't use question sentences
3. Don't use "I think"
4. Choose a everyday life topic you are familiar with, something like "my family" "my favourite sport"
6. Don't use pefect tenses
7. Don't use words you are not sure about
That's all I can remember. The reason for the above is that ppl usually make mistakes using them. And some sentences using those would sound weird to native speakers if used inappropriately. It would be better you can choose a simplier way to say it, altho it may sound like elementary school kids. I followed those rules to write my second LPI and I passed it. I used very simple words that I am super familiar with. My sentences were very short and nothing fancy to avoid mistakes.
| Totally agree with you.
I had a few LPI classes before the exam, and the intructor said the same thing. Use words you are familiar with; pay attention on your sentence structure and grammar; remember to use transitional words so that paragraphs connect with each other; make sure you reread your essay after you finish it. Those are the main points. I took LPI exam once, and I got a 5. I thought I was lucky 'cuz I felt that I screwed up badly. But when I got the report, I was like...wut da hell?? Am i dreaming??
Anyway, getting a LPI tutor will help you a lot!!
Good luck!! |

| yeah, my tutor also mentioned the same thing too, first time I only got 3, and I though that was pretty bad. So my friend introuduce me her tutor to help my essay writing. I got 5 at second time, he taugh me some techniqs about essay writing, I think it was very useful, even now.
Good luck :) |
